The Challenge
Netplus Broadband is the wireline internet service provider arm of Fastway Transmissions Pvt Ltd, and it serves customers in eight states and more than 400 cities with broadband, fixed-line and enterprise services. Continued expansion across North India put pressure on the aggregation layer. The ISP had to raise transmission rates and tighten security without ripping out an installed base of Nokia and Cisco routers. Capital and operating costs had to come down at the same time, and new services had to reach subscribers faster.
The Solution
Netplus evaluated the options and chose OcNOS SP on UfiSpace open networking hardware. MPLS and Ethernet VPN (EVPN) carry the aggregation use case, the platform interoperates seamlessly with the legacy Nokia and Cisco footprint, and ZTE equipment comes out of the network as OcNOS goes in. Distribution partner Antriksh Digital Solution supported the high-performance service rollout.

Outcomes
The aggregation layer now scales with the buildout plan instead of capping it, and the incumbent routers Netplus already paid for keep their place in the design. Splitting software from hardware moves spending off a proprietary ladder, which shows up as lower CAPEX and OPEX. Security, efficiency and transmission rates all improved in the same pass. Provisioning no longer waits on a vendor refresh cycle, so customers who rely on Netplus for secure, fast and economical connections get new services sooner.
