Netplus Broadband, the wireline internet service provider arm of Fastway Transmissions Pvt Ltd, selected IP Infusion OcNOS to strengthen and scale its network as it expands broadband services across North India. The operator is deploying OcNOS MPLS and Ethernet VPN (EVPN) features on UfiSpace open networking hardware to enhance security, efficiency and transmission rates while interoperating with its existing Nokia and Cisco routers.
The Challenge
Netplus serves customers across eight states and more than 400 cities, providing broadband, fixed-line and enterprise services. To support continued expansion, the ISP needed to scale its aggregation layer, raise transmission performance and tighten network security, all without ripping out its installed base of Nokia and Cisco routers. The team also wanted to reduce capital and operating costs and shorten the time required to roll out new services.
The Solution
After evaluating the options, Netplus chose OcNOS SP running on UfiSpace open networking hardware. The disaggregated platform delivers MPLS and EVPN for the aggregation use case and interoperates seamlessly with the legacy Nokia and Cisco footprint, while replacing ZTE equipment in the network. Distribution partner Antriksh Digital Solution supported the high-performance service rollout.
- Software: IP Infusion OcNOS SP with MPLS and EVPN features
- Hardware: UfiSpace open networking platforms
- Use case: Aggregation across an eight-state, 400-plus city footprint
- Interoperability: Coexists with installed Nokia and Cisco routers; replaces ZTE
- Channel: Delivered with distribution partner Antriksh Digital Solution
Outcomes
With OcNOS in place, Netplus gains a network upgrade path that scales with its expansion plans while protecting prior investment in incumbent routers. Disaggregating the aggregation layer lowers CAPEX and OPEX and shortens the time to bring new services to customers who rely on Netplus for secure, fast and economical connections.
Why OcNOS
"Our research confirmed that IP Infusion's open networking OcNOS software not only boasts superior technology, but is highly cost-effective, easy to integrate and will strategically position us for further expansion," said Arshdeep Singh Mundi, Executive Director at Netplus.
