Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 August 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies, including pixels, tags, local storage and SDKs, that we collectively refer to as "cookies" in this policy. Cookies are either set by us ("first-party") or by third parties whose services we use ("third-party").
Cookies fall into four categories on this Site:
- Strictly necessary required to run the Site, secure it, and remember your privacy choices. Always on.
- Analytics help us measure how the Site is used. Only set with your consent.
- Marketing control whether campaign performance may be attributed to your visit and whether measurement data may be shared with Google's advertising services. We do not currently set any advertising cookie on this site. Only active with your consent.
- Functional remember non-essential preferences. Only set with your consent.
2. Cookies we use
Below is a description of the cookies and similar technologies that may be set on this Site. Exact names and durations may vary as third parties update their products; this list is reviewed at least every 6 months.
Strictly necessary
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ipi_consent_v1 | IP Infusion (first party, cookie and localStorage) | Stores your cookie consent choices so we can honour them and do not ask again. The localStorage copy has no expiry. | 12 months (cookie) |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare, our hosting provider's security layer | Records that your browser passed an automated security check, so you are not challenged again on every page. | 12 months |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Bot management. Distinguishes human visitors from automated traffic to protect the site. | 30 minutes |
ipi_geo_v1 | IP Infusion (first party, sessionStorage) | Remembers which country your visit came from, so we do not repeat that lookup on every page. Used only to decide which consent rules apply to you. | Until you close the tab |
ipi-dark-mode | IP Infusion (first party, localStorage) | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Written only when you use the theme toggle. | Until cleared |
| WordPress session cookies | IP Infusion (first party) | Set only for staff who sign in to the site's content management system. Not set for ordinary visitors. | Session, up to 14 days |
Analytics
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Assigns a random identifier so repeat visits are counted as one visitor rather than several. | 13 months |
_ga_VZ8HYV5ELY | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Holds session state for the single Analytics property used by this site. | 13 months |
Where we ask for your consent before setting them, these two cookies appear only after you allow Analytics. In other regions they may be set when you arrive, and you can turn them off at any time using the controls on this page. If you refuse, or later withdraw, they are not set, and any that already exist are deleted from your device immediately.
The Google Analytics script itself loads on every page before you make a choice, and sends one request that carries no identifier and stores nothing on your device. Google Consent Mode reports every storage type as denied in that request. Once you allow Analytics, the script begins storing the two cookies above.
Marketing & advertising
We do not currently run any advertising or remarketing tag on this site. There is no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no Google Ads or DoubleClick tag, and no Salesforce Pardot page tracker, so no advertising cookie is set.
The Marketing toggle still has an effect. When you allow it, Google Analytics is permitted to report advertising consent as granted and to send one measurement request to Google's advertising domain. When you refuse it, that request is not sent. No cookie is stored by that request.
If we add an advertising tag in future, this section and the consent banner will be updated before the tag goes live, and the banner will reappear so you can review your choices.
Functional
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embedded video connection | YouTube, Privacy Enhanced Mode (youtube-nocookie.com) | Some event pages embed a recorded webinar. We use YouTube's Privacy Enhanced Mode, which does not set a cookie on your device, including while a video is playing. Loading and playing a video still connects your browser to Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details. | No cookie set |
| Language | IP Infusion (first party) | Your language is carried in the page address, for example /ja/. No cookie or storage entry is used to remember it. | Not applicable |
3. How to manage cookies
- On this Site: open Cookie Preferences. Toggle each category on or off and save.
- Browser controls: all major browsers let you block or delete cookies. Help links: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
- Global Privacy Control: we honor the GPC signal as an opt-out of analytics, marketing, and (for California residents) the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
- Industry opt-outs: DAA WebChoices, NAI, EDAA (Your Online Choices).
4. Do Not Track
Most browsers transmit a "Do Not Track" header, but there is no industry consensus on how to interpret it. We do not respond to DNT, but we do honor the more recent and clearer Global Privacy Control signal as described above.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use. Material changes will trigger the consent banner to re-appear so you can review and re-confirm your choices.
