IP Infusion to collaborate with KDDI Corporation at new TIP Community Lab in Tokyo

KDDI opens lab to promote innovation through cross-boundary discussion between operators and vendors

TOKYO, February 26, 2020 –IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for telecom and data communications services, announced it will be participating in KDDI Corporation’s Telecom Infra Project (TIP) Community Lab which will be based in Tokyo. The Tokyo lab joins other labs around the world to create a test center to test related software and hardware on white boxes, and to share knowledge with other industry members.

As its charter, TIP aims to collaborate on building new technologies, examining new business approaches, and spurring investment in the telecom space. By applying the telecom trends, such as open networking and disaggregation, TIP sets a goal to bring innovations to software, hardware and operations   based on white box solutions.  TIP Community Labs are physical spaces that enable collaboration between member companies in a TIP project group to develop telecom infrastructure solutions.

The TIP Community Labs are dedicated to promoting TIP projects by TIP project teams. The KDDI-sponsored TIP Community Lab joins other Community Lab locations in Berlin, Germany; Menlo Park, California, USA; Northridge, California, USA; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Louisville, Colorado, USA; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Sao Paolo, Brazil; Manesar, India; London, UK; Adastral Park, Ipswich, UK; Turin, Italy and Madrid, Spain.

At the new TIP community lab, TIP member companies will test disaggregated NOS (network operating system) solutions on various hardware designs including DCSG (Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway) technologies.

“We believe that the Community Labs, such as this new one in Tokyo, will make it easier to test and trial White Box solutions, which will help to promote the use of White Box across the industry on a worldwide basis,” said Atsushi Ogata, CEO and president of IP Infusion. “With the growing adoption of disaggregated networks, it is vital for the industry to develop a common, standardized platform that will lead to faster deployments, more telecom services and more effective support for all vendors.”
