IzarLink, a regional telecommunications operator based in the French Basque Country (Pays Basque, Béarn and Landes), modernized its data center core network with OcNOS to support customers that depend on secure, high-performance digital infrastructure. Working with system integrator Pine Networks, the operator replaced legacy Arista DCS7148-SX switches with an open networking core that meets ISO 27001 and HDS (Health Data Hosting) certification requirements.
The Challenge
IzarLink delivers high-performance connectivity, secure data exchange, and infrastructure services to professional and public-sector customers. Demand for digital infrastructure was rising, and the operator needed more capacity, stronger resilience, and a way out of vendor lock-in to keep pace.
- Increase data center core capacity beyond the legacy Arista DCS7148-SX platform
- Sustain ISO 27001 and HDS certifications for health data hosting
- Eliminate vendor lock-in and gain hardware independence
- Reduce long-term total cost of ownership across the next decade
The Solution
IzarLink selected OcNOS to power a resilient EVPN-VXLAN core that interconnects its data centers and peering locations. The design aggregates 25G access into a redundant 100G core and supports BGP, OSPF, multi-homing, and real-time streaming telemetry. OcNOS is delivered through a simple licensing model that decouples software from hardware.
Pine Networks managed the integration, translating IzarLink's design goals into a production-ready deployment that coexists with the operator's existing Cisco and MikroTik infrastructure.
Outcomes
- Carrier-grade scalability and stability in the data center core
- Redundant 100G core aggregating 25G access, with EVPN-VXLAN, BGP, OSPF, multi-homing, and streaming telemetry
- Hardware independence and freedom from single-vendor lock-in
- Significantly lower long-term TCO compared with legacy vendors
- Continued compliance with ISO 27001 and HDS regulatory standards
Why OcNOS
"IP Infusion OcNOS provided the technical depth and improved network economics that enabled us to timely upgrade our data center core with future-proof scale, security, and resilience," said Alexis Guirlé, CEO of IzarLink. Hadi Choueiry, General Manager of Pine Networks, added that the project combined local integration expertise with OcNOS to deliver a resilient, future-proof data center core built around long-term service quality.
