We are pleased to announce the new version of OcNOS Demo VM, which incorporates additional features introduced in the OcNOS 6.6.1 release.
Continuing our commitment to empower Network Disaggregation, the OcNOS 6.6.1 release has introduced a host of new features on its several supported hardware platforms. Read more about what it offers for Service Providers and Data Centers.
This new version of OcNOS Demo VM helps to validate several of the new features, without the need for actual hardware. This VM also helps to setup testbeds quickly, run proof of concept, and get hands-on experience with the latest advancements in OcNOS.
What’s New In This Release?
This version of the demo VM reflects several enhancements of OcNOS 6.6.1 improving functionality, automation and ease of use.
Functionality: Routing and switching
- SR based Micro loop Avoidance – ISIS as IGP
- This helps in avoiding traffic loops during link failure by implementing backup paths and delayed FIB installation.
- ECMP for L3VPN (same prefix advertised by multiple PEs)
- Equal-Cost Multipath (ECMP) is now available for L3VPN, enabling improved load balancing and resiliency across VPN traffic paths. The control plane functionality of this feature can be verified in the VM
- BGP A-D for LDP VPLS (including H-VPLS)
- This helps in auto discovering and setting up tunnels between LDP based VPLS peers. This auto discovery reduces the burden of manual configurations.
- Support user-defined Adjacency SID for ISIS
- This helps in implementing SR-TE effectively in a predictive way and consistent across reboots. This can be done by either of, the user defining the adjacency SID in CLI or programmed by controller.
- Enhanced support for BGP large communities
- This allows BGP routes to be tagged with 12 bytes identifiers and the same can be used in route-maps to effectively manage routing policies.
- BGP-Increase dynamic peer member limit to 512 per peer group
- The number of peers in BGP dynamic peer group have been increased from 200 to 512.
- BGP Aggregate address under vrf address-family
- This feature enables BGP to aggregate VRF learned routes and advertise only summarized prefixes to specific peers.
- Route usage threshold support
- This feature helps in controlling the number of VRF routes installed into the hardware, hence helps in optimizing the routing resources.
Automation and API support
- Enhancing streaming telemetry for additional data models
- Extending the support of streaming telemetry for data models across BGP peers, interfaces, VRF, IS-IS, VRRP, TWAMP and MPLS.
- Match-xpath (Apply-path) Feature
- Match XPath feature in prefix group helps to reference values from the system configuration and dynamically generate prefix list entries based on table paths (x-paths). This brings in dynamism in the configuration to refer the values automatically.
Enhanced usability
- Custom VRF support for copy-text-config through Netconf
- NetConf now supports the copy-text-config feature, which replaces the config in CLI-style via user-defined VRF or management VRF. This improves the readability of the config used in NetConf.
- Support for custom Netconf RPC for diff between running and candidate config
- New command; “candidate-config-diff” has been introduced which shows the difference between running-configand candidate-config done via Netconf RPC
- New XPATH formatting rules for gNMIc subscription
- This helps in matching the paths properly for the gNMIc subscrition
Who Should Try The Demo VM?
