IP Infusion Announces General Availability of OcNOS Network Operating System

SANTA CLARA, Calif., December 9, 2015 – IP Infusion, a leading provider of intelligent network software for telecom and data communications services, today announced general availability of OcNOS™, the first, full-featured network operating system for data center and enterprise networking. OcNOS is a fast, easy and affordable network operating system that allows customers to select the best software and hardware to meet their growing needs as they adopt SDN technologies. OcNOS allows customers to keep pace with evolving high performance network needs and to reduce the time to deploy new services, while lowering costs for Enterprise network operations with a modular, disaggregated network operating system.

OcNOS is the first network operating system to provide advanced capabilities, such as extensive protocol support for enterprise class routing, switching and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), to help build scalable network platforms that align with the Open Compute Project, an open hardware movement.

IP Infusion also announced that Dell customers are now able to purchase the OcNOS network operating system to run on Dell’s S6000 high performance Open Networking systems through a distribution agreement both companies signed in April 2015. Under this partnership, Dell worked closely with IP Infusion to help provide enterprise customers with a cost-effective and scalable Data Center Switching, enterprise class Layer 2, Layer 3 switching and MPLS-based network virtualization solution that provides secure connectivity and aggregated management. This joint solution enables enterprise customers to adopt MPLS virtualization capabilities within their data centers and campus environments at a fraction of the cost, power, space and cooling requirements as compared to today’s market offerings.

“Our partners and customers of all sizes around the world are recognizing how OcNOS bundled with the hardware of their choice delivers the scalability, security and economic advantages in their deployments of open networking systems,” said Kiyo Oishi, CEO and president of IP Infusion.  “With OcNOS’ MLPS technology, enterprise organizations have an alternative choice when looking to implement or expand use of MPLS-based platforms.”

OcNOS, is a modular, multitasking networking operating system which gives network equipment manufacturers and network carriers the tight integration capabilities with commodity hardware they need to develop highly robust, scalable, redundant solutions that can be used in multiple deployment scenarios, and in turn, reduce operational complexity.

“With the OcNOS network operating system, our customers can accelerate their migration to higher performance as they move to implementing open networking environments,” said Adnan Bhutta, global strategy director of Open Networking, Dell. “OcNOS is optimized for the open networking era, providing the business agility, choices and lower costs our customers are demanding as they transform their data centers.”
