挑战与成果

Prosoluce, a French ISP and managed services provider, upgraded its core to a 100G EVPN-VXLAN backbone running IP Infusion OcNOS on Edgecore hardware, integrated by Pine Networks.

结果: Open networking gave Prosoluce a 100G EVPN-VXLAN backbone that interoperates with its existing Alcatel Lucent, Huawei, MikroTik, and Ubiquiti gear, while lowering cost and avoiding vendor lock-in.

Prosoluce, a regional internet, cloud, and managed services provider in France, upgraded its core backbone from 10G to a 100G open networking platform running IP Infusion OcNOS on Edgecore hardware. The new IP backbone uses EVPN-VXLAN to deliver multi-site and multi-tenant services, while interoperating with the operator's existing Alcatel Lucent, Huawei, MikroTik, and Ubiquiti equipment. Open networking systems integrator Pine Networks guided the migration.

The Challenge

Growing customer demand was outpacing what Prosoluce's 10G backbone could deliver, and the existing platform faced upgrade limitations. The operator wanted a modern IP backbone based on EVPN-VXLAN to support multi-site and multi-tenant services, without being locked into a single traditional vendor.

Any replacement had to interoperate with the operator's installed base, which included:

  • Alcatel Lucent
  • Huawei
  • MikroTik
  • Ubiquiti

The Solution

Prosoluce evaluated traditional vendor proposals and refurbished options before selecting disaggregated open networking with IP Infusion. OcNOS runs on 100G Edgecore Networks hardware, and Pine Networks led the design and deployment as the integrator specializing in open, disaggregated, and virtualized solutions. Support from both IP Infusion and Pine Networks was decisive as Prosoluce refined its requirements.

成效

The upgrade addressed several priorities in one project:

  • A 100G backbone built on EVPN-VXLAN, replacing the prior 10G platform
  • Interoperability with the operator's existing multi-vendor estate
  • Lower cost compared with the traditional and refurbished alternatives evaluated
  • No lock-in to a single traditional vendor

Gael Hermet, Directeur General for Prosoluce, said: "Prosoluce's upgrade to open networking solved several problems at once. We valued Pine Networks' recommendation for open networking to avoid single traditional vendor lock-in. IP Infusion software allowed for increased compatibility and performance while lowering costs."

Why OcNOS

OcNOS gave Prosoluce a feature-rich upgrade path that supports EVPN-VXLAN for multi-site, multi-tenant service delivery, and runs on standards-based Edgecore hardware. Combined with Pine Networks' integration work, the disaggregated approach delivered the compatibility, performance, and cost profile the operator needed for its next phase of growth.

Prosoluce's upgrade to open networking solved several problems at once. We valued Pine Networks' recommendation for open networking to avoid single traditional vendor lock-in. IP Infusion software allowed for increased compatibility and performance while lowering costs.
