eww ITandTEL, one of Austria's premier IT and telecommunications value-added service providers, upgraded its MPLS backbone with IP Infusion's OcNOS-SP-PLUS. The Alpine provider advanced from 100G to a 400G IP over DWDM (IPoDWDM) architecture, deploying 400G ZR+ coherent transceiver-based circuits across a multi-vendor whitebox environment in partnership with distributor EPS Global.
The Challenge
With more than 30 years operating secure data centers and extensive fiber infrastructure, eww ITandTEL needed a backbone that could scale with customer demand while controlling cost. Legacy chassis systems imposed vendor lock-in and limited the operator's ability to keep pace with bandwidth growth across its Austrian footprint.
- Scale beyond 100G without inheriting proprietary chassis constraints
- Collapse IP and optical layers to simplify operations
- Preserve sovereign, reliable service for regional customers
The Solution
eww ITandTEL selected OcNOS running on high-performance whitebox platforms from UfiSpace (S9600-56DX, S9510-28DC) and Edgecore (AS7946-30XB). The disaggregated design pairs OcNOS-SP-PLUS with 400G ZR+ coherent optics to deliver IPoDWDM in a single layer. EPS Global, a value-added distributor and system-integration partner, sourced, configured, and delivered components on schedule using its global distribution network and supply-chain logistics.
成效
The new 400G backbone gives eww ITandTEL the control, visibility, and operational efficiency to keep services stable and ahead of demand. By decoupling software from hardware, the operator avoids traditional chassis lock-in, maximizes bandwidth and resiliency, and positions the network for long-term regional growth.
- Migrated from 100G to a 400G IPoDWDM backbone
- Deployed 400G ZR+ coherent circuits across a multi-vendor whitebox fabric
- Reduced total cost of ownership through open networking disaggregation
Why OcNOS
OcNOS lets eww ITandTEL run a sovereign, high-capacity network on standards-based whitebox hardware. The platform supports 400G ZR+ IPoDWDM, multi-vendor deployments, and the operational simplicity needed to deliver end-to-end IT services made in Austria.
