Le défi & le résultat

MetaLINK Technologies deployed IP Infusion OcNOS SP on Edgecore and UfiSpace open networking switches for aggregation, with full interoperability across its existing MikroTik routers and Arista switches.

Résultat : MetaLINK completed its network upgrade within three months of starting, gained simple licensing and a robust feature set, and avoided supply chain delays at a fraction of traditional vendor prices.

MetaLINK Technologies, one of the top 25 independent ISPs in the United States, selected IP Infusion OcNOS to upgrade its network with expanded bandwidth and transport capacity. Working with independent network consultant IP ArchiTechs and distributor EPS Global, MetaLINK deployed OcNOS on open networking switches from Edgecore and UfiSpace and completed the upgrade within three months of starting.

The Challenge

MetaLINK, a locally owned ISP serving northwest Ohio, northeast Indiana, and southern Michigan since 1996, needed to grow its network without disruption or supply chain delays. The team had a tight timeline and specific protocols required for the upgrade.

Quotes from incumbent legacy vendors came back with twelve-month to two-year timelines and price tags that did not fit the project. The new platform also had to interoperate with the existing MikroTik routers and Arista switches already in the network.

The Solution

MetaLINK selected IP Infusion OcNOS SP running on open networking switches from Edgecore and UfiSpace for aggregation. The disaggregated approach paired carrier-grade software with white-box hardware at a fraction of traditional vendor prices.

  • OcNOS interoperability with the existing MikroTik and Arista equipment
  • Cisco-like command-line interface for operator familiarity
  • Full stack routing and switching protocols
  • Simple licensing
  • Delivery support from IP ArchiTechs and EPS Global

Outcomes

The deployment was completed within three months of starting, well inside the timelines quoted by legacy suppliers. MetaLINK upgraded seamlessly to OcNOS and avoided supply chain delays, while reducing total cost of ownership compared with traditional vendor pricing.

The new architecture supports MetaLINK's continued growth as it delivers high-speed internet, fiber transport, co-location, web hosting, and hosted phone services to businesses and households across its region.

Why OcNOS

"IP Infusion's astonishing speed to market: the deployment was within three months of starting, and its affordability was beyond comparison," said Fernando Torres, Chief Operating Officer of MetaLINK. Equipment availability, simple licensing, and a robust feature set made OcNOS on Edgecore and UfiSpace hardware the practical choice for a fast, cost-effective upgrade.
