Le défi & le résultat

Kinetix Networks deployed OcNOS SP on UfiSpace hardware to aggregate Layer 2 partners and provide the upstream underlay to Australia's National Broadband Network.

Résultat : Disaggregation delivers 800 Gbps and 300 Gbps capacity across Kinetix's metro and regional centers, with incremental upgrades replacing full chassis swaps.

Kinetix Networks, an Australian Internet Service Provider, selected IP Infusion OcNOS running on UfiSpace hardware to upgrade and operate its service network. The disaggregated build connects Layer 2 networking partners directly and supplies the upstream link to Australia's National Broadband Network, with 800 Gbps and 300 Gbps capacity reaching major metro and regional centers.

The Challenge

Kinetix needed to modernize its network without locking into a single chassis vendor or absorbing the cost and lead-time risk of full system replacements. Equipment availability and procurement flexibility were central concerns, and the ISP also required redundancy to protect uptime for partners and end customers.

The Solution

Kinetix deployed OcNOS SP-MPLS on UfiSpace open hardware as the foundation of its disaggregated network. The platform connects Layer 2 networking partners directly and serves as the underlay for the upstream link to the National Broadband Network.

  • OcNOS SP-MPLS running on UfiSpace hardware
  • 800 Gbps and 300 Gbps capacity across major metro and regional centers
  • Direct Layer 2 partner interconnect
  • Underlay platform feeding Australia's National Broadband Network
  • Redundancy designed in to mitigate service interruptions

Résultats

Disaggregation gave Kinetix the freedom to choose hardware vendors based on availability and lead time, and the ability to procure equipment incrementally rather than replacing entire chassis. The combination of OcNOS and UfiSpace supports the capacity profile Kinetix needs across its footprint while preserving room to scale as demand grows.

  • Incremental upgrade path in place of full chassis swaps
  • Hardware vendor choice to address availability and lead times
  • Redundant design supporting service continuity

Why OcNOS

"OcNOS has been instrumental in providing a sound upgrade strategy that lets us procure equipment as needed, as opposed to entire chassis replacement," said James Howell, CEO of Kinetix Networks. "Network disaggregation allowed us to have the freedom of choice for hardware vendors, which was important for equipment availability and lead times."
