Riepert IT, an Austrian Internet Service Provider building its own fiber network, deployed IP Infusion’s OcNOS Service Provider (SP) platform with support from distribution partner EPS Global. The greenfield rollout upgraded backbone links from 10G to 100G, replaced legacy MikroTik equipment, and positioned the ISP to deliver advanced services to private and corporate clients while keeping costs manageable.
The Challenge
Riepert IT faced surging bandwidth demand from its private and corporate customer base and needed to evolve beyond its legacy MikroTik footprint. The team required a backbone capable of supporting modern service-provider features without the cost profile of traditional vendors, and a licensing approach clear enough to plan against.
The Solution
Riepert IT selected OcNOS SP running on UfiSpace S9510-28DC hardware, with EPS Global handling distribution and multi-vendor support. The deployment activated a set of carrier-grade capabilities on the new backbone:
- IS-IS for interior routing across the fiber network
- SR-MPLS for segment-routed transport
- TI-LFA for sub-second protection against link and node failures
- EVPN-MPLS for scalable Layer 2 and Layer 3 services
The greenfield design let Riepert IT adopt these modern features end to end rather than retrofitting them onto legacy gear.
Outcomes
- Backbone links upgraded from 10G to 100G to absorb growing traffic
- Legacy MikroTik solutions replaced with a disaggregated open networking stack
- Cost-effective access to modern networking technologies, with a clear OcNOS licensing model
- A platform for new, high-value services to private and corporate clients
“IP Infusion’s OcNOS gave us the ability to scale our network to meet surging bandwidth demands while keeping costs manageable,” said Gerald Riepert, CEO of Riepert IT. “Their clear licensing model and the seamless support from EPS Global made this transformation straightforward and cost-effective. We’re now positioned to deliver cutting-edge services to our customers with confidence.”
Why OcNOS and EPS Global
The combination of OcNOS on UfiSpace hardware and EPS Global’s global inventory and multi-vendor support gave Riepert IT a path to a high-performance, scalable network without supply chain friction. As Chris Curley, Managing Director of Global Networking for EPS Global, put it: “By combining OcNOS’s robust open networking capabilities with our streamlined global inventory strategy and multi-vendor support, we’ve helped Riepert IT achieve a high-performance, scalable network.”
