FOUNDRY NETWORKS AND IP INFUSION WORK TOGETHER TO DEVELOP IPV6
BASED SWITCHING AND ROUTING SOLUTIONS
High Performance Networking Solution Provider to Develop Next
Generation Routing Solution Including OSPFv3, RIPng, and BGP4+ Routing
Protocol Support Using IP Infusion's Routing Software
October 30, 2001, San Jose, CA - Foundry Networks®, Inc.
(NASDAQ: FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end
switching and routing, and IP InfusionT, a leading provider of advanced
network software for the support of next generation network equipment,
today announced that they are working together to integrate IP Infusion's
ZebOST IPv6 based routing protocols into Foundry's line of high
performance Layer 2 - 7 switching and Internet routing products.
The Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) is the next-generation Internet
Protocol as specified by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
IPv6 offers expanded IP addresses to support the proliferation of
Internet devices as a result of the global Internet expansion, seamless
mobility support, enhanced security and support for emerging advanced
Web based applications.
"We are committed to delivering high performance, end-to-end IPv6
based solutions for our customers, " said Bobby Johnson, president
and CEO of Foundry Networks. "IP Infusion's IPv6 network software
is the most complete IPv6 routing suite on the market today. Integrating
this technology into our products will provide us full IPv6 functionality
and allow us to take a key leadership role in provisioning IPv6
networks worldwide."
Foundry Networks is working closely with the WIDE (Widely Integrated
Distributed Environments) Project in Japan. The WIDE project operates
several major Internet Exchanges, which handle many ISP peering
configurations. Foundry will extend their support for WIDE to include
a number of IPv6 related projects. This support enables the WIDE
project to expand with a robust, scalable, IPv6 routing protocol
implementation using IronWareT, Foundry's industry-leading high-performance
switching/routing software suite. WIDE has also been an IP Infusion
partner and has been implementing IPv6 software provided by IP Infusion
in their network for over two years.
"We are seeing a growing demand for IPv6 routing in a broad range
of markets, in Japan, Europe and throughout the world," said Nick
Keating, president and CEO of IP Infusion. "We are pleased to be
working with the industry leader, Foundry Networks, to assist them
in developing complex IPv6 switching and routing solutions."
