IP INFUSION DEMONSTRATES PORTABLE, INTEROPERABLE IP ROUTING SOFTWARE ON AMCC, IBM, AND INTEL NETWORK PROCESSOR PLATFORMS

NETWORK PROCESSOR CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, October 24, 2001 - IP InfusionT Inc. today announced that it will be demonstrating its modular, portable ZebOST Advanced Routing Suite running on AMCC, IBM, and Intel® network processor platforms. The demonstration will show OSPF interoperability and fail-over between the three leading network processor vendors' platforms, all running IP Infusion's Advanced Routing Suite. The result is a fully interoperable set of software solutions that can be quickly integrated onto leading network processor platforms using discrete control and dataplane components.

"Network equipment vendors have been continuously stating that time-to-market is key to their success. Although many hardware and software elements are available to assist these vendors in developing complex network solutions, the problem has been that most disparate hardware and software elements have not been designed for out of the box operational compatibility and performance," said Nick Keating, President and CEO of IP Infusion. "What we have done is work with the leading network processor vendors to ensure that our control plane software is integrated with their dataplane technology. This means tremendous time savings for equipment manufacturers"

IP Infusion, Intel, IBM and AMCC are all members of the Network Processing Forum (NPF), working within the Forum's Software Working Group to define standard control plane/data plane interfaces for IPv4 unicast route updates. IP Infusion intends to work within the NPF to define and promote IPv6, MPLS, and other control to dataplane interfaces in the future.

More about IP InfusionT Advanced IP Routing Suite
IP Infusion's Advanced IP Routing Suite is based on a unique, modular, multi-process architecture featuring control-plane components that provide route redistribution and conversion, management services, and an OS/processor abstraction layer for routing and switching modules. In this architecture, IPv4 and IPv6 Protocol Modules for OSPF, BGP, and RIP provide routing table information and updates. MPLS Modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder also use the control-plane components for central management and routing integration. The IP Infusion Advanced IP Routing Suite can be used in embedded equipment and as a route server on standard server platforms.
