IP INFUSION RELEASES ZEBOS ADVANCED ROUTING SUITE WITH MPLS
BGP-VPN SUPPORT FOR PROVIDER EDGE EQUIPMENT
October 9, 2001, San Jose, California - IP Infusion announced
today that it has released an enhanced version of its widely used,
portable network software suite, the ZebOST Advanced Routing Suite
(ARS). ZebOS ARS Version 2.0 is now shipping with an integrated
multiprotocol label switching-virtual private network (MPLS-VPN)
capability for use in provisioning VPN services in provider edge
equipment. IP Infusion is the first source code network software
provider to have a complete MPLS-VPN solution fully integrated with
BGP-VPN extensions.
In development since 1996, IP Infusion's software is currently
in use at thousands of sites worldwide and is one of the most prevalent
IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocol packages on the market today. ZebOS
ARS Version 2.0 adds an advanced MPLS-VPN capability with support
for the label distribution protocol (LDP), MPLS Forwarder, and full
VPN MPLS extensions for BGP. The MPLS-VPN capability allows secure
VPN services to be provisioned in provider edge equipment by using
BGP to transport route information across the MPLS core using LDP.
By associating a virtual route forwarding (VRF) table with sub-interfaces,
all of the route information carried by BGP can be securely delivered
between both ends of the VPN without the use of additional customer
equipment. IP Infusion's MPLS-VPN solution delivers a full layer
3, highly scalable, secure VPN solution.
"With the release of our MPLS BGP-VPN software, IP Infusion currently
delivers the first source code based, fully integrated routing and
MPLS-VPN solution. VPN services are a significant source of revenue
for service providers, and as such, edge equipment manufacturers
need to deliver these features to market as quickly as possible,"
said Nick Keating, President and CEO of IP Infusion. "Our MPLS BGP-VPN
solution offers a complete VPN solution that, along with our IPv4
and IPv6 routing protocols, can be easily integrated into edge equipment
for a variety of operating systems and network processor environment."
About ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite
ZebOS ARS is based on a unique, modular, multi-process architecture,
which is built around the ZebOS Network Services Module (NSM). The
NSM provides route redistribution and conversion, management services,
and an OS/processor abstraction layer for both the routing and switching
modules. Protocol Modules for OSPF, BGP, and RIP for IPv4 and IPv6
use the services of the NSM to provide routing table information
and updates. MPLS Modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder also use
the NSM for central management and routing integration. ZebOS, which
can be used in embedded equipment and as a route server on standard
server platforms, contains a number of features that ensure that
device and system developers can quickly bring IP routing and switching
software to market.
Delivered as either portable, platform-independent source code,
or in server solutions, ZebOS can be used to support proprietary
systems and includes a number of OS dependant modules to quickly
build on Linux, BSD, Solaris, VxWorks, OS®-9, and other popular
operating systems. Processor support for Intel® IXP1200, Intel®
StrongARMT, Intel® XscaleT, Motorola® PowerPCT, Sun® SparcT, and
MIPS are provided.
