INTEL AND IP INFUSION DEMONSTRATE RAPID INTEGRATION OF INTEL®
IXP1200 NETWORKING SILICON AND ADVANCED IP ROUTING SUITE SOFTWARE
IP InfusionT exploits the power of Intel network processing
building blocks to deliver scalable, extensible, interoperable routing
solution.
COMMUNICATIONS DESIGN CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, October 2, 2001- Intel
Corporation and IP Infusion Inc. today introduced a next-generation
IP routing platform integrating Intel's network processing building
blocks and IP Infusion's Advanced IP Routing Suite. The result is
a highly modular, scalable solution that addresses network equipment
vendors' requirements for interoperability, extensibility and rapid
time-to-market.
"Intel's network processing building blocks reduce the time and
effort required to bring feature-rich solutions to market", said
Alan Crouch, Director of Internet Infrastructure for Intel Labs.
"They implement a modular, layered architecture that allows control-plane
software vendors to rapidly port their code onto network processing
silicon. These software building blocks are scalable, extensible
and interoperable, so solutions like the one we're showing here
with IP Infusion can readily be extended and adapted to meet changing
network infrastructure requirements."
"IP Infusion's Advanced IP Routing Suite is the industry's leading
portable IP routing solution", said Nick Keating, President and
CEO of IP Infusion. "Our work with Intel shows that we can deliver
advanced IP routing features, IPv6 implementations, Traffic Engineering,
and QoS extensions on current and future network processor-based
platforms. We think this is an exciting technology and revenue opportunity,
and we're thrilled to be working with Intel."
More about Intel® network processing building blocks
Intel network processing building blocks transition traditional
network equipment architecture into functional components. These
components are connected by interfaces that support clean control/data
plane separation and scalable, extensible and interoperable design.
Intel engineering and marketing staff are playing active roles in
industry efforts to standardize these interfaces.
More about IP InfusionT Advanced IP Routing Suite
IP Infusion's Advanced IP Routing Suite is based on a unique, modular,
multi-process architecture featuring control-plane components that
provide route redistribution and conversion, management services,
and an OS/processor abstraction layer for routing and switching
modules. In this architecture, IPv4 and IPv6 Protocol Modules for
OSPF, BGP, and RIP provide routing table information and updates.
MPLS Modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder also use the control-plane
components for central management and routing integration. The IP
Infusion Advanced IP Routing Suite can be used in embedded equipment
and as a route server on standard server platforms.
