IP INFUSION TO PRESENT THE FUTURE OF IPV6 AT COMMUNICATIONS
DESIGN CONFERENCE
October 2, 2001, San Jose, California - At the Communications
Design Conference, IP Infusion, a leading provider of next generation
network software solutions, will present "The Future of IPv6" (CDC)
on Thursday, October 4, 2001. This presentation will discuss network
applications that will drive and demand the features and addressing
required for IPv6 today and in the near future as well as IPv6 protocols
and routing solutions. These applications will include wireless
and mobile solutions, home networking, and online gaming and entertainment.
Communications Design Conference is being held October 1-4, 2001
at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, California.
IP Infusion develops and markets routing and switching software
to drive both embedded network equipment and server products. IP
Infusion's ZebOST Advanced Routing Suite (ARS) supports IPv4 and
IPv6 versions of OSPF, BGP, and RIP in both source and server versions.
ZebOS ARS runs on a variety of operating system environments, including:
Linux, Solaris, BSD, VxWorks, OSE, and QNX.
"IP Infusion is seeing a number of new requirements in the market
for network solutions that need the addressing and features inherent
in the IPv6 protocols. For instance, applications that use mobile
and wireless solutions need the expanded addressing, multicast,
and security features that are designed into the IPv6 protocol suite,"
said Gary Hemminger, VP of Marketing for IP Infusion. "We see a
number of new applications that will drive the implementation of
IPv6, and in fact we already see a number of early adopters that
are building IPv6 backbone solutions to provide the infrastructure
for these new applications. Our presentation will focus on these
applications and why IPv6 is the right choice for their implementation."
In addition to new applications, IPv6 routing protocols have been
defined to simplify and expand the capabilities of IPv6 networks
to efficiently forward packets. "A number of routing options are
available in the IPv4 routing definition that simply are not used
today. The routing header options available in IPv6 have been defined
to remove these unused options and at the same time provide an expanded
set of routing options that are ideal for traffic engineering applications,"
said Kunihiro Ishiguro, CTO of IP Infusion. "We will be discussing
these new routing options and how they enhance the ability of a
number of new applications that are coming to market."

About ZebOS Advanced Routing Suite
ZebOS is based on a unique, modular, multi-process architecture,
which is built around the ZebOS Network Services Module (NSM). The
NSM provides route redistribution and conversion, management services,
and an OS/processor abstraction layer for both the routing and switching
modules. Protocol Modules for OSPF, BGP, and RIP for IPv4 and IPv6
use the services of the NSM to provide routing table information
and updates. MPLS Modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder also use
the NSM for central management and routing integration. ZebOS, which
can be used in embedded equipment and as a route server on standard
server platforms, contains a number of features that ensure that
device and system developers can quickly bring IP routing and switching
software to market.
Delivered as either portable, platform-independent source code,
or in server solutions, ZebOS can be used to support proprietary
systems and includes a number of OS dependant modules to quickly
build on Linux, BSD, Solaris, VxWorks, OS®-9, and other popular
operating systems. Processor support for Intel® IXP1200, Intel®
StrongARMT, Intel® XscaleT, Motorola® PowerPCT, Sun® SparcT, and
MIPS are provided.
