IP INFUSION RELEASES ITS ADVANCED ROUTING SUITE WITH VIRTUAL
ROUTING, MPLS TRAFFIC ENGINEERING AND MOBILE IP SUPPORT
March 7, 2002, San Jose, California - IP Infusion, a leading
provider of advanced networking software for the development of
next generation communications, networking and wireless equipment,
announced today the availability of an enhanced version of its Advanced
Routing Suite (ARS). As one of its most comprehensive software suite
releases, ZebOST ARS Version 3.0 includes Virtual Routing,
RSVP-TE, CSPF, and Mobile IP Home Agent Discovery support.
"Our newest version of the Advanced Routing Suite adds MPLS traffic
engineering to our MPLS-VPN suite and is fully integrated with our
routing protocols through a unique CSPF topology update module,"
said Nick Keating, President and CEO of IP Infusion. "The new 3.0
version also offers a Virtual Routing (VR) source code module that
allows edge equipment to securely support multiple users without
the increased cost and footprint associated with using multiple
routers. While, with our Mobile IP Home Agent Discovery we offer
additional features to our growing list of wireless base station
customers."
About Advanced Routing Suite Version 3.0 Features
Virtual Routing
The Virtual Routing (VR) source code module allows service providers
to provision existing dedicated services to customers without incurring
related overhead cost by consolidating multiple routers into a single
router. Each customer receives a dedicated virtual router as opposed
to a dedicated physical router. As a result, multiple VRs can exist
inside a single physical router. VR helps with equipment footprint
and all its associated costs. Each VR is a separate instance of
the routing protocols and has its own management interface.
Resource ReSerVation Protocol with Traffic Engineering extensions
(RSVP-TE)
RSVP-TE signaling is widely used to setup Label Switch Paths (LSPs)
in a MPLS cloud and is fully compliant with RFC2205, RFC2210, RFC3209,
and RFC 3210 as well as implementation of Hello Messaging. IP Infusion's
RSVP-TE has been tested successfully for interoperability with many
of the existing router vendors such as Juniper Networks, Cisco Systems,
and Foundry Networks.
OSPF with Constrained Shortest Path First (CSPF)
The OSPF/Constrained Shortest Path First (CSPF) module calculates
an optimum explicit route (ER) based on the specified constraints,
using Traffic Engineering Database (TED) and pre-existing LSPs.
The resulting ER is used by a signaling protocol, such as RSVP-TE,
to setup LSPs. Currently, our CSPF module can be linked to our OSPF-TE
module, and together with RSVP-TE module provide a full Traffic
Engineering solution.
Mobile IP Home Agent Discovery
IP Infusion now supports Mobile IP via the implementation of Home
Agent (HA) Discovery. A Home Agent is a node on the home network
that provides reach ability for a Mobile Node (MN) to its home address
even when the mobile node is not attached to its home network. IP
Infusion's Network Services Module(NSM) maintains HA lists by gathering
the Router Advertisement (RA) messages that has a HA bit on from
other HAs on the same home link for the Dynamic Home Agent Address
Discovery.
About IP Infusion's Advanced Routing Suite
The Advanced Routing Suite (ARS) is based on a unique, modular,
multi-process architecture, which is built around the NSM. The NSM
provides route redistribution and conversion, management services,
and an OS/processor abstraction layer for both the routing and switching
modules. Protocol modules for OSPF, BGP, and RIP for IPv4 and IPv6
use the services of the NSM to provide routing table information
and updates. In addition, MPLS modules for LDP and the MPLS Forwarder
use the NSM for central management and routing integration. The
ARS, which can be used in embedded equipment and as a route server
on standard server platforms, contains a number of features that
ensure that device and system developers can quickly bring IP routing
and switching software to market.
IP Infusion's software suites can be delivered as either portable,
platform-independent source code, or in server solutions, which
can be used to support proprietary systems and includes a number
of OS dependant modules to quickly build on Linux, BSD, Solaris,
VxWorks, OSE, and other popular operating systems. Processor support
for Intel® Pentium, Motorola® PowerPCT, Sun® SparcT, and MIPS are
provided.
