MICROWARE DELIVERS ENTERPRISE ROUTING SOLUTION TO COMMUNICATIONS
AND INFRASTRUCTURE MARKET FOR NEXT GENERATION INTERNET DEVICES
Microware Offers IP Infusion's Industry-Leading ZebOS Advanced
Routing SuiteTM for Intel®IXP1200
Network Processor and OS-9®
RTOS Switching and Routing Applications, Including Routing Support
for IPv4 and IPv6 Networks
June 4, 2001, Des Moines, IA - Microware, a leading provider
of embedded software solutions, (MWAR: NASDSAQ) today announced
it has signed an agreement with IP Infusion granting Microware the
right to port and re-sell IP Infusion's routing software as part
of Microware's Enterprise Routing Solution. The solution is fully
integrated and complete for fast and easy development of advanced
communications and infrastructure equipment. Microware's Enterprise
Routing Solution, which is available now and includes the IP Infusion
ZebOS Advanced Routing SuiteTM,
utilizes Microware's OS-9® innovative Forwarding
Table Manager technology and Microcode Solutions Library to take
full advantage of the microengines in Intel's IXP1200 network processor.
The combination of Microware's secure, process model OS-9®
real-time operating system, IP Infusion's ZebOS Advanced Routing
SuiteTM, and Microware's SoftStax
driver-based, multi-network communications framework with BSD 4.4
IP Stack completes the software baseline required for a variety
of connected equipment. ZebOS, when used with Microware's Forwarding
Table Manager and the Intel®
IXP1200, delivers significant performance gains. The Forwarding
Table Manager provides the interface between the ZebOS routing stack
and microengines, enabling the Enterprise Routing Suite to fully
utilize IXP1200 capabilities. The unique environment delivers solutions
that core routing and switching vendors, appliance vendors, and
network processor and ASIC developers require for quick time to
market.
Doug Kostlan, vice president of marketing at Microware stated,
"Microware and IP Infusion have teamed to provide an enterprise
routing solution that fills the requirements of multiple Microware
customers developing on the Intel IXP1200 network processor. Our
customers are sensitive about intellectual property open-source
issues and they want an off-the-shelf solution that is compliant
to industry standards and can be easily implemented in their IXP1200
network processor routing and switching designs.
IP Infusion's intellectual property position, their modular approach,
and their commitment to standards support and compliance testing
through the University of New Hampshire's Interoperability Lab told
us that IP Infusion would be a good partner. The solution is finely
tuned to take advantage of Microware's Microcode Solutions Library
(MSL), the only MSL on the market today, as well OS-9®,
which provides major performance benefits in the communications
arena."
"ZebOS is the most widely used, advanced IP routing software available
on the market," stated Ken Kaplan, Microware president and CEO.
"It is an innovative, reliable, high performance product, just like
OS-9®, so we believe customers
will find the synergism of the products exciting."
Nick Keating, IP Infusion president and CEO, said, "ZebOS is the
first routing package that supports both IPv4 and IPv6 protocol
modules for BGP, OSPF, and RIP. It utilizes a scalable, modular
architecture that uniquely complements the dynamic, run-time, module-based
architecture of Microware's OS-9®.
We believe that the combination of Microware and IP Infusion software
will help equipment manufacturers get their products to market first."
Microware, along with Intel, will be displaying the IXDP1200 Advanced
Development Platform in the kiosk within the Intel corporate booth
#3322 during SUPERCOMM 2001 (www.supercomm2001.com), June 3-7 (exhibits
June 5-7), at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
SUPERCOMM is the global showplace for communications technologies,
systems, and ideas.
