IP INFUSION ANNOUNCES ALLIANCE WITH AMCC FOR ADVANCED IP ROUTING
SOLUTIONS FOR nP3400 AND FAMILY OF NETWORK PROCESSORS
February 11, 2002 San Jose, CA- IP Infusion announced today
the integration of IP Infusion's ZebOSÔ Advanced Routing Suite,
a leading edge IP routing software solution designed for networking,
communications, and wireless developers, with AMCC's nPsoftT Development
Environment and the nP Workbench-3400 design platform, creating
one of the industry's highest performing router reference design
solutions targeted at edge and core network equipment manufacturers.
The two companies have also announced their intention to deliver
a full IPv6 router reference design solution.
"IP Infusion has created an optimized version of its IPv4 routing
suite that takes advantage of the data-plane software components
provided by AMCC to build a fully functional router reference design
on the nP3400 network processor. We have worked with AMCC to develop
data-plane and control-plane routing software that operates at a
high level of functionality and performance," said Nick Keating,
President and CEO of IP Infusion. "Our initial integration work
was done using VxWorks on a PowerPC environment. The combination
of this real-time operating system and control plane processor,
fully integrated and optimized with AMCC's nP family of network
processors, provides equipment manufacturers with the quick turnaround
time that they need to be competitive in today's market."
"As network processors are revolutionizing the way systems vendors
build a variety of network equipment hardware, the availability
of advanced and extensible networking software suites, such as IP
Infusion's Advanced Routing Suite, pre-integrated and tested in
conjunction with the latest advanced chipsets, can even further
speed OEM time-to-market," said Jeff Cashen, vice president of AMCC's
Switching and Network Processing Group.
The initial integration includes support for IP Infusion's ZebOS
IPv4 routing suite, including OSPFv2, BGP-4, and RIP, using the
VxWorks operating system on a PowerPC control processor. The AMCC
nP Workbench-3400 platform with the nP3400 network processor and
PowerPC act as the router reference design platform for this solution,
supporting 24 10/100 Ethernet ports plus two Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The ZebOS IPv4 suite interfaces with AMCC's IPv4 Application Services
Library API and network processor-resident software. The ZebOS Advanced
Routing Suite is based on the Network Services Module (NSM), which
provides route table management, route conversion and distribution,
as well as an industry standard command line interface. The protocol
modules OSPFv2, BGP-4, and RIP run on top of the NSM. The NSM contains
the control plane interface to the nP3400 network processor. Like
all of AMCC's nP family of network processors, including the recently
announced nP7510 10 Gbps network processor, the nP3400 is based
on AMCC's patented nPcoreT Network-optimized Instruction Set Computing
(NISC) technology, offering a flexible, fully programmable, yet
powerful and highly efficient platform for building a wide variety
of networking and communications equipment.
IP Infusion and AMCC are in the process of jointly developing IPv6
routing solutions by adding IPv6 data-plane and control-plane components
to the nP Workbench-3400 router reference solution.
